Cyberconfessions

Writing about Gary Docker, the guy who woke up from a seven-and-a-half year coma, the Associated Press informed us that among other gaps in his knowledge, he "has no concept of the Internet...."

This ignorance is appalling! Obviously, even those of us who are unconscious need access to modems. There must be a comatose user group that can help him.

At the risk of jeopardizing my reputation as a snide know-it-all, I have to confess that there are potholes in my database as well. I'm not afraid of Kevin Mitnick, for example. Should I be?

Should I be afraid of Caller I.D.? As I understand it, this new telephone service allows people to know who's on the line, so they can not answer if they choose. However, I could get Caller I.D. Block, thus preventing people with Caller I.D. from knowing who I am. Is tomorrow's technology great? Or what? Two vast new systems have been created to duplicate the same situation we had yesterday! (For a small fee, of course.)
