After and before

I asked my mom and my sister to dampen their hair, put towels on and stand against a section of white wall in our living room. I wanted to create a context of vulnerability for the photograph. What I did not anticipate were the two women who stood before me — the same face, one weathered with wisdom, the other untried, both of them bare, waiting for direction, full of trust. I picked up the camera and began to shoot because I needed something to cover me.
