"Prologomena to a Poetics"
Jerome Rothenberg is the author of over fifty books of poetry including Poems for the Game of Silence, Poland/1931, A Seneca Journal, Vienna Blood, and most recently The Lorca Variations (all from New Directions). He has worked with poetry performance since the 1950s and is the recipient of numerous awards including the PEN Oakland Josephine Miles Literary Award.
In an MP3Lit.com exclusive, Rothenberg recites his performance poem “Prologomena to a Poetics”.
“Mr. Rothenberg’s aim… is that of rediscovering the ‘archaic’ worlds of myth, vision and revelation, all the while connecting these worlds of mostly oral tradition to the poetic ‘revolution of the word’ epitomized by writers such as Ezra Pound, Gertrude Stein and Charles Olson.” -The New York Times Book Review
