Well, that was fast.

The Wisconsin group Basic-Abortion-Rights Network has dropped its plans to sponsor a petition drive in South Dakota for a ballot referendum to challenge the state’s new abortion ban, according to the Associated Press via today’s Kaiser Daily Women’s Health Policy report.

Apparently, South Dakotans didn’t appreciate the carpet-bagging, but there are plans afoot for local groups to circulate their own petition. Meanwhile, a new poll finds that a majority of South Dakotans think that the state’s new abortion ban is too extreme.
