Report: Caroline Kennedy withdraws from Senate consideration
Considered the top candidate for Hillary Clinton's now-empty seat, Kennedy reportedly dropped out because of concern for her uncle's health.
On the same day Hillary Clinton officially resigned her Senate seat, Caroline Kennedy reportedly dropped out of consideration to replace her. The New York Times says Kennedy — considered the top candidate for the job — called New York Gov. David Paterson, and told him she was withdrawing because of the poor health of her uncle, Massachusetts Sen. Ted Kennedy.
Paterson will announce Clinton’s replacement Saturday.
