Fangirl flips over “New Moon”

The movie trailer sparks a far more entertaining response from a YouTuber.

If this video of a “Twilight” fangirl flipping her lid over the “New Moon” trailer doesn’t make your morning, then, clearly, you were never a teenage girl — or human. As the former pubescent proprietor of a fan site and daily newsletter dedicated to a certain mid-’90s heartthrob, I can report that this 9-minute clip perfectly encapsulates all of the delightfully obsessive ardor of adolescent celebrity lust. (Never mind that, despite appearances, the star of the video is 22 years old. She’s young at heart!)

There are squeals, gasps, screams and near hyperventilation. She bursts into a smile of unadulterated joy and moments later tears of sadness fill her eyes. The trailer ends and she’s left staring at the screen, motionless and unable to talk. It’s almost enough to make me want to relive the hell that was junior high, just to experience that brand-new and heady hormonal roller coaster of lo-oove. I tell you what, the actual trailer is far less riveting than her reaction to it.

  • Many home-remedies are used to minimize the effects of tear gas. This woman has put a milky solution on her face, removing her mask after the tear gas dissipated. Before sunrise, the police came again for another round of teargasing.

  • People capitalize on the uprising -- selling flags, beer, gas masks, sky lanterns and spray paint to name just a few of the popular items.

  • On Monday morning, June 11, the police execute a strong offensive. Many plain-clothed police officers, like the ones seen here, clash with protesters in the side streets away from the main stand-off in Taksim.

  • The authorities seem to be most aggressive in the night, pushing protesters away from the square and park. After being teargassed this young woman catches her breath with other protesters on Siraselviler Street.
