Wait, maybe this shift isn’t significant at all to the election in November. Let’s hear from a Republican strategist:

Bush. “The focus on contraception has not been a good one for us … and Republicans have unfairly taken on water on this issue.”

Still for all that — Linda says she thinks that Obama will likely win in November — and — at least if I’m reading her correctly — that he will probably win a majority of women’s votes — but — doesn’t think it will / would necessarily mark a “sea change” — a new era of women embracing the Democratic Party ….. en mass …. in perpetuity … so to speak.

My own take ($00.02) … it appears that something historically momentous is happening but the jury is still out …. might be premature to assume it will be a major “climate shift” …. a long-lasting realignment in gender voting patterns.”

You’re a fool not to realize this is about control. Women have the pill and are being told they can be fired if they take it as birth control. Meanwhile, viagra is covered. If it’s about morality and religion, when a man can no longer get an erection, it should be considered ‘the Lord’s will.’ That part of his life is just over. Because THAT is the reasoning about trying to get rid of birth control. It’s the Lord’s will if you get pregnant, when you have sex.

If it’s not about control, why aren’t the conservatives up in arms about covering Viagra?

If it’s about morality and religion, why aren’t bills being passed all over the place by conservatives about men masturbating? They’re spilling their seed! But it is not happening.

So, don’t try to sell that morality crap here. Unless you’re against it all, you’re a hypocrite. Stop pretending in some puerile manner that you’re not. Stop pretending that this is about religion and only religion.

And finally, even if we pretend for five seconds, that it is about religion … WE LIVE IN A COUNTRY OF RELIGIOUS FREEDOM. Religious freedom does not mean you get special privileges as a Christian. It means you get to practice your religion for yourself and no one stops you or kills you for it. It means that you support the state without a religion because you want to not have any religion predominate. You don’t get special attention because of your religion. You get the ability to practice it for yourself. To do that, you have to support the right for everyone else to do that same, in terms of the state.

Get your religion and your beliefs about women away from my body and my life. Quakers pay taxes for war without complaint. You can do the same for an insurance change (a very slight one) that saves everyone money and probably won’t affect you at all, since you don’t pay for it with taxes.

I live in the South. I know there are people here who don’t like this legislation. There just aren’t enough of them. (Although, that does seem to be entirely true about the new legislation against women. That seems to be reaching Republican women as well, which is great.)

It’s true that stereotyping is wrong. However, without resorting to stereotype at all, we can refer to voting and say, very safely, it’s not a good situation.

The reason we can’t build a national majority is because, every other election, we have one, for about three or four days, and then, a few years later, the conservatives have one for about three or four days. Truthfully, the real problem we have in building a national majority is very complicated and has very, very little to do with a blanket condescension of the South. It has more to do with regional needs being favored over national ones and/or media persuasion.

Finally, be careful not to accuse someone of stereotyping with a stereotype. :/ I don’t think there’s a blanket condescension as much as there is a horrified feeling of confusion over why so many people are voting against their own best interests, especially in terms of money and civil liberties. I don’t feel like everyone here is stupid, and that’s the reason for the crazier stances. They are very afraid, however, of a lot of inexplicable (to me) things. Fear is a great motivator. Hatred is pretty good, too. They don’t like the color of Obama’s skin.

It’s a pretty sad situation but women have only been politically independent for a hundred years. It may take another hundred years for them to wise up.

It is their choice,,, we won it for them ..We no longer need this protection but they and future women do! I have seen the outrage from many! Think the author might be mistaken to put it lightly! She might want to ask rushbo!

That said, it broke my heart, too, at first. Her cavalier attitude made me sick.

Then, I just decided she was a horrific human being and not to be heeded. Her evidence is poor, her logic unsound, her attitude is disrespectful and irresponsible. Who cares what she thinks?
