Traister wins Mirror Award
Long-time Salon contributor Rebecca Traister honored for her shrewd media commentary
By Carmen GarciaSalon contributing writer Rebecca Traister took home a Mirror Award last week for Best Commentary in Digital Media for two essays that appeared in Salon (“30 Rock’ takes on feminist hypocrisy–and its own“; “Seeing ‘Bridesmaids’ is a social responsibility.”) and one that appeared in the New York Times (“The Soap Opera Is Dead! Long Live The Soap Opera!” )
The Mirror Awards, awarded by Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, honors excellence in media industry reporting. Watch Traister win the award — and her great acceptance speech — below (skip ahead to 23:50):
