Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., a lawmaker with an A-rating from the NRA, said Monday that when it comes to gun violence, “enough is enough,” and that “it is time for this kind of senseless violence to end.”

Calling the shootings in Newtown, Conn., a “game-changer,” Warner told NBC12 that “we’ve got to put stricter rules on the books. What those specifics ought to be, there will be time for that.”

“I, like I think most of us, realize that there are ways to get to rational gun control. There are ways to grapple with the obvious challenge of mental illness,” he said.

Warner is the latest NRA-backed Democrat to call for gun control, following Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., who made similar comments on “Morning Joe” Monday.
