Sarah Palin told Sean Hannity that she is considering a bid for Senate in Alaska in 2014, as a challenge to Democratic Sen. Mark Begich. “I’ve considered it because people have requested me considering it, but I’m still waiting to see what the lineup will be and hoping that … there will be some new blood, some new energy,” she told Hannity on his radio show.
“Any American with a heart for service has to always have in the back of their mind that they would do anything [and] everything that they could to help the cause, even if perhaps it’s something that doesn’t look necessarily appealing or necessarily fitting in with a conventional plan that they would try to orchestrate for themselves and their family,” she continued, according to Politico.
Republicans Alaska Lt. Gov. Mead Treadwell and Joe Miller, who made an unsuccessful challenge to Sen. Lisa Murkowski in 2010, have already announced their candidacy for the primary.
A poll from the Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling in February found Begich leading Palin 54-38 percent, "a reflection of [Palin] continuing to be very unpopular on the home front- 34% of voters see her positively to 59% with a negative opinion." But a group of tea partiers is still pushing for Palin to run. The Tea Party Leadership Fund commissioned a poll by the GOP firm Harper polling, which found that Palin would be a frontrunner in the Republican primary if she decided to run.
