"Sharknado" is coming to New York

Syfy announces a sequel set on the East Coast, because one B-movie about sharks caught in a tornado is not enough

In news that is somehow both surprising and not surprising at all, Syfy has announced a follow-up to its most recent B-movie "Sharknado," which, though a ratings failure, got a lot of attention on Twitter. Unlike the first "Sharknado," which brought a twister full of sharks to the shores of Los Angeles, "Sharknado 2" will bring the aquatic beasts to New York City.

“Every once in a while, there is a perfect storm – on television. The fans are clamoring for a sequel. Or perhaps it will be a prequel,” said Syfy Executive Vice President Thomas Vitale. “What we can guarantee is that Sharknado 2 will be lots of fun. We’ll be announcing more details very soon. But we didn’t want our fans to worry they wouldn’t get their fill of more shark fin, I mean, fun next year.”

So, there's that.
