Tom Corbett, Republican governor of Pennsylvania, said on a Friday morning Harrisburg TV news show that a recent court filing from the state comparing same-sex marriage to bestiality made an "inappropriate analogy," and that "a much better analogy would have been brother and sister."

Corbett, who according to a recent poll has a disapproval rating of 58 percent, also said that a lawsuit seeking to overturn Pennsylvania's ban on same-sex marriage did not belong in federal court. "The federal court shouldn't even be involved in this," Corbett said. "But if they say they are, then they're going to make a determination whether the state has the right to determine that a marriage is only between a man and a woman and not between two individuals of the same sex."
