George Clooney bad-mouths Tesla

"Why am I always stuck on the side of the f*cking road?" the actor asked

With seemingly little prompting (the interviewer was "just giving him shit" to see if "even George Clooney was susceptible to Hollywood cliché") Clooney made his feelings about his 2008 Tesla “Signature 100” Roadster abundantly clear, telling Esquire magazine:

I had a Tesla. I was one of the first cats with a Tesla. I think I was, like, number five on the list. But I’m telling you, I’ve been on the side of the road a while in that thing. And I said to them, "Look, guys, why am I always stuck on the side of the fucking road? Make it work, one way or another."

Tesla discontinued the Roadster last year, but the "Gravity" actor's comments come at an unfortunate time for the company, which is getting bad publicity for its Model S electric sedan. Three incidents in six weeks saw the sedans' batteries catching fire -- while there were no injuries, people were expecting better from "America's safest car."

The real loser in this case, though, is the person who paid $99,000 for Clooney's alleged lemon in a charity auction.
