The Daily DotIf you’re going to perform a dramatic reading of of R. Kelly lyrics on national television, it’s only a matter of time before he gets you back.

While working the talk show circuit to promote his new album, Black Panties, Kelly stopped by VH1’s Big Morning Buzz Live. After host Carrie Keagan showed the clip of Benedict Cumberbatch performing R. Kelly lyrics when the two appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live last week, she asked him to tackle some of Cumberbatch's lines.

Cumberbatch currently appears in three different films in theaters (August: Osage County12 Years a Slave, and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug) and stars in the new season of Sherlock next month, but Keagan instead opted for one of his bigger roles this year: Khan from Star Trek Into Darkness.

R. Kelly tackles one of Khan’s more emotional scenes in his usual smooth manner, and if Khan had sung it like this in the movie, he might have had Kirk and Spock on his side sooner.
