At-home 3-D printing could now be more obtainable and affordable with the Micro 3D printer. The company M3D's Kickstarter campaign raised nearly $1 million for the printer in a single day. Currently it has $1,761,060 from 6,250 backers with 27 fundraising days remaining.

Weighing in at only 2.2 pounds, the small cube printer boasts being "the first truly consumer 3D printer." The makers explain that all you need to do is take it out of the box, plug it in and print.

Don't get your hopes up for printing human organs or a full-size car: The printer uses filament spools of either PLA or ABS, and is only 7.3 inches per side. The video below shows the printer in action:

The best part about this printer is the price: At $300 a pop it is the cheapest 3-D printer advertised. Previously this technology could cost consumers thousands. And it is clear from the record fundraising that there is a demand for the technology. According to the Kickstarter page, more than 5,000 of the majority of backers have been willing to pay between $199 and $299 for the ability to 3-D print at home.
