After 40 minutes of discussion, the state senate named yogurt the official state snack

In what Jon Stewart has hailed as "maybe the best 40 minutes any legislative chamber anywhere in the country has ever spent," the New York State Senate has passed a bill making yogurt -- not pretzels, and not yogurt-covered pretzels, just yogurt -- the state's official snack.

It was a debate for the ages and a microcosm of our nation's political environment: there was discussion of potential yogurt discrimination, a hearty health debate and economic concerns. But if you can't sit through 40 minutes of state legislators debating the merits of yogurt, watch "The Daily Show" cover it in 8 minutes, instead:
