On Sunday, the Satanic group, Dakhma of Angra Mainyu Syndicate, held a black mass in the Oklahoma City Civic Center, Tulsa World reported. Organizer, Adam Daniels, stated that the ritual was “not a game" and "very serious to us.”
Fox News contributor Father Jonathan Morris had his own opinions of the ceremony. Hetold "Fox and Friends," on Sunday that it was "inciting violence," and did not count as free speech.“You get yourself into something that is, first of all, satanic, that is supernatural,” he explained to the hosts. “They believe that as soon as you connect yourself with evil, evil stuff happens. I feel very bad for them.”
Morris also disagrees with Oklahoma City's firm stance on allowing the black mass to be held -- due to the fact "that under the Constitution, Satanists have the same right as any other group to rent city facilities," Tulsa World explains.
Morris has his own view of freedom of speech, religious freedom and freedom of assembly.
"When you have a group that does this, not just because they want to do their own little worship, but they are provoking anger and hatred among the community, the city can step in and say, 'That’s not worship, that’s not free speech, that’s mockery, and you’re inciting violence!'" Morris told the hosts.
"But what if I want to go and desecrate a Koran out in front of my church?" Father Morris continued. "What if I want to speak pro-Nazi stuff right in front of my church and get people all fired up on a public sidewalk? I think at some point government has to step in the name of free speech." The ritual, according to Tulsa World, was a black mass altered to fit within state laws, and included reverse exorcism and stomping on a communion wafer.
