On Monday, Google revealed the newest "Street View" feature -- now, you can explore even the most remote parts of the Amazon jungle by virtually zip-lining above the trees. To capture the footage, Google gave the Amazonas Sustainable Foundation (FAS) its Trekker camera with the intention of a representative attaching the device to a backpack and hiking through the jungle. FAS, however, took the assignment to the next level and completed its mapping assignment on a zipline.
The tour also allows viewers to explore the Rio Aripuanã and the Rio Mariepauá by boat, as well as 17 local villages.
Karin Tuxen-Bettman, the head of Google's Street View partnerships, told the Associated Press that the company was initially nervous about the decision, but it ended up working out well. "One of the things that I love about working at Google is that if a partner comes to us with a crazy idea, we will probably try it," she said.
