No, Tom. According to common law, the age of consent for boys and girls is not 14 and 12, respectively.

An uncomfortable silence hung over the Jeopardy stage on Friday night's episode as one hasty contestant by the name of Tom buzzed in to this question:

"What is ... the age of consent," he responded. Alex Trebek managed to mask his alarm, simply responding "No." (And by that he meant, "nooooooooo.")

"What is puberty," Tom soon learned, was the correct answer to the question. Best case scenario: Tom did some research on the legal age of consent when he got home that night, and discovered it varies between 16 and 18 depending on the state.
