After returning to "The Daily Show" after a week-long hiatus, Jon Stewart wasted no time addressing the "elephant in the room" -- his successor Trevor Noah and the Internet firestorm that erupted over a handful of sloppily executed tweets -- on Monday's show.
"I think, without hesitation, Trevor Noah will earn your trust and respect… or not, just as I earned your respect… or did not," Stewart said.
Stewart went on to explain that it it's a two-way street and that viewers must “give him an opportunity to earn that trust and respect.”
