Jill Scott on Bill Cosby: "I stood by a man I respected and loved. I was wrong"

The musician, once a strong Cosby defender on social media, admits she was incorrect as deposition reveals truth

The singer Jill Scott was an outspoken supporter of her mentor Bill Cosby last fall when allegations of sexual assault were once again leveled against the famed comedian. She engaged in Twitter debates and defended Cosby aggressively. Cosby even thanked her and Whoopi Goldberg for speaking up for him.

"U know Bill Cosby? I do child and this is insane. Proof. Period," she responded to one tweet. "I'm respecting a man who has done more for the image of Brown people that almost anyone EVER. From Fat Albert to the Huxtables," she added. Also:  "I side with substantiated proof when media/society is attempting to destroy a magnificent Legacy."

Well, the deposition uncovered yesterday by the Associated Press offered all the proof Scott needed, and she took to Twitter to discuss it. "Sadly his own testimony offers PROOF of terrible deeds, which is ALL I have ever required to believe the accusations," Scott wrote.
