Ryan Adams and Foo Fighters lead singer Dave Grohl have one big thing in common: This year, both sustained major injuries while performing but pushed on for the love of music.

In May, Adams announced that he'd broken his rib after performing at Sasquatch! Music Festival but would be continuing his tour anyway; Dave Grohl -- though few need reminding -- delivered an instantly-iconic performance in Sweden last month after breaking his leg mid-set.

Fittingly, during Adams' show at Sydney Opera House Wednesday night, the singer paid tribute to Grohl with a cover of The Foo Fighters' tune "Times Like These."

Adams shared some high praises for the injured comrade before his performance, too, noting that he was impressed by Grohl's ability "to continue doing what he loved even though he was totally broken.”

He also told the audience they were "fucking wasted."
