Ben Carson supporters scramble to defend their candidate after West Point lie exposed

Now that Politico may have finally deflated Ben Carson's inflation to the top of the Republican presidential field with its new report that the retired neurosurgeon admits to fabricating his claim that he was awarded admission to West Point, some right-wing Twitter users are scrambling to defend him from a librul media pile-on.

Of course, we now have the Carson truther brigade -- conservatives who point to Carson's memoir "Gifted Hands" as proof that he never explicitly claimed to have received an appointment to West Point:

But most of the right-wing Twitter freakout turned into a giant exercise in deflection:

Even when conceding that Carson's lies may have rightfully caught up to him, right-wing Twitter still doubled down on the media bias trope:

The librul media is, of course, now racist:
