"Apocalyptic fear, deranged rhetoric": Donald Trump and the NRA have a lot in common

Trevor Noah tracks the evolution of Trump and the NRA from moderation to insanity

"Daily Show" host Trevor Noah last night traced the evolution of the National Rifle Association from a moderate gun safety organization to one of the most powerful lobbies in U.S. politics.

"Every election, this organization reminds us how powerful they are," Noah said. "And last Friday they did it again by getting Donald Trump to fly to their national convention in Louisville and pledge his support in exchange for their endorsement."

"When you think about it, Donald Trump and the NRA are a match that was meant to be," Noah continued. "Although they both used to be fairly moderate, and even pro-gun control, they rose to their current heights of political power by stoking apocalyptic fear with deranged rhetoric."
