Rep. Steve King, one of President Donald Trump's most vocal backers, has a solution for the endless turmoil that has plagued the new administration: "Purge leftists from executive branch."

In a Sunday night tweet, the Iowa congressman wrote that the president "needs to purge leftists from executive branch before disloyal, illegal & treasonist [sic] acts sink us."

Trump has already bemoaned, publicly, what he sees is a bureaucracy that is more loyal to his predecessor, President Barack Obama, than to himself and the White House staff. In an interview last week, Trump said Obama had encouraged all the leaks that have come from the intelligence community.

"I think that President Obama is behind it because his people are certainly behind it," Trump said. "And some of the leaks possibly come from that group, which are really serious because they are very bad in terms of national security. But I also understand that it is politics."

King has expressed interest in investigating the intelligence community to find the people who leaked information about Trump advisers and Russia.

"We need to find out who the leaking moles are who are violating federal law because we can't function from a national security standpoint if we have that spillage coming out of the community," King said in February on CNN New Day.

Now the congressman appears to have expanded the scope of his sought-after purge.
