Dan Kindlon & Michael Thompson
Oct. 05, 2000 | Dan Kindlon, Ph.D., teaches child psychology at Harvard University and conducts research in child development. He has a private psychotherapy practice specializing in boys and their families. Michael Thompson, Ph.D., lectures widely on the development of boys and conducts problem-solving workshops with parents, teachers, and students. Dr. Thompson is the staff psychologist of an all-boys school in the Boston area and has worked for more than fifteen years as a child and family therapist.
In "Raising Cain,"[BDD Audio] Kindlon and Thompson share what they have learned in over thirty-five years of combined experience working with boys and their families. Statistics point to an alarming number of boys at high risk for suicide, alcohol and drug abuse, violence, and loneliness. Cutting through outdated theories of "mother blame," "boy biology," and "testosterone," Kindlon and Thompson shed light on the destructive emotional training our boys receive.
