SALON.COM'S BRILLIANT CAREERS EVENT:
"FROM DEGAS TO DOT-COM"

On Thursday, September 28th, cultural icons Tracey Ullman, Roger Ebert, Stan Lee, Mike Figgis, Brenda Laurel and Jerry Harrison appeared at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in downtown San Francisco to discuss the fusion of arts, entertainment and technology in a provocative modern-day salon, entitled "From Degas to dot-com." The event, sponsored by Salon.com and Lexus, was emceed by Ben Stein, host of Comedy Central's "Win Ben Stein's Money."

"From Degas to dot-com," was the second annual celebration of Salon's weekly profile series "Brilliant Careers."

The software that powers Salon Blogs

As of Feb. 1, 2006, this Salon Blogs program is no longer accepting new participants. Blogs that started before that date are welcome to continue as before.

Radio UserLand for Salon Blogs is available for Microsoft Windows, Macintosh OS X and Macintosh Classic.

See the System Requirements page for operating system and hardware requirements. You can download the full software package here, and may use it at no charge for up to thirty days. At any time you can purchase Radio UserLand for Salon Blogs. It's only $39.95.

Please read the license, and do not download or use the software unless you agree to its terms.

Radio UserLand is an Internet application. You will not be able to complete the installation without connecting to the community server.

Windows

Run the installer, RadioUserLandSalonSetup.exe, and follow the instructions in the setup dialogs.

At the end of the installation process, the installer will (optionally) launch the program for you.

Your web browser will open the Radio UserLand Setup page. Follow the instructions on the page.

To uninstall: From the Start menu, choose Programs->UserLand->Radio UserLand Uninstaller, and click Yes in the confirmation dialog.

Macintosh OS X

Extract the downloaded archive, double-click the extracted disk image to mount it on your desktop, and copy the Radio UserLand folder into the Applications folder.

Make sure that your web browser is running, and then double-click the Radio UserLand application icon.

The browser will open the Radio UserLand Setup page. Follow the instructions on the page.

To Uninstall: Drag the Radio UserLand folder to the Trash.

MacOS Classic

Unstuff the archive if it hasn't been unstuffed automatically, and launch Radio UserLand Salon Installer. Follow the instructions in the installer. At the end of the installation process, it will (optionally) launch the program for you.

Your web browser will open the Radio UserLand Setup page. Follow the instructions on the page.

To Uninstall: Drag the Radio UserLand folder to the Trash.
