Daily Download: "The Shepherd & the Chauffeur," A Northern Chorus
I'd never heard of Canadian band a Northern Chorus until their new CD arrived in my mailbox a while back, but they had me at the title: "Bitter Hands Resign." Like that title, the music is a little bit dramatic and a lot gorgeous, all brooding shoe-gaze crescendos and perfect Low-style harmonies. The lyrics are a little questionable in places ("You'd always said you'd never let yourself be an accessory to mediocrity" kind of kills the mood for me). But, like I said, they had me at the title.
