Daily Download: "Never Learn to Cry," the Rogers Sisters

rogersThe Rogers Sisters -- whose third record, "The Invisible Deck," is out on Too Pure -- are a New York three-piece who play a particularly stripped down and uncomplicated version of the currently ubiquitous jagged neo-post-punk. I like the absolute flatness of this song, the way singer Jennifer Rogers' guitar is so dry and uninflected, the whole band so insistently stiff and creepily lifeless, that they almost keep what obviously should be a dance song from becoming danceable.
