The opening track from Minneapolis rocker Mark Mallman's latest, "Between the Devil and Middle C," is more of the Billy Joel-style stadium rock he's been peddling for years, passionately belting it out with a relationship to irony that is ambiguous or even, if the song works for you -- and I think this one will -- irrelevant.
