Exclusive Daily Download: "I Cried Last Night," Junior Kimbrough

An exclusive free download from a modern blues great.
"I Cried Last Night"

junior kibroughJunior Kimbrough, who died in 1998 (it will be a lifelong regret that I never heard him perform live), played simple, repetitive modal blues, full of surprising microtonal inflections, that, despite the roadhouse swagger of his band, captured better than any other modern bluesman the almost mystical allure of the Delta blues greats. This track is from an excellent sampler CD accompanying the music issue of the Oxford American magazine.
