Joan Wasser's breathy, sensual voice has been heard both live and on record alongside folks like Elton John, Rufus Wainwright, Lou Reed and Sheryl Crow, but she only recently released her first album, "Real Life," credited to Joan as Police Woman. The relaxed, earthy "The Ride," taken from that album, might remind listeners of the better-known Feist, but Wasser's singing style strikes me as a little more direct and a little less idiosyncratic.
