MONDAY, MAY 18, 1998
BY JOYCE MILLMAN

S P E C I A L S

Fish? Human? Both? Peter Benchley's "Creature" (9 p.m., ABC) concludes. In the weirdest example yet of celebrity immortality, Ed Sullivan returns to TV from beyond the grave tonight to host a pair of specials. The Virtual Ed Sullivan Show (9 p.m., UPN) uses a computer-animated Sullivan to introduce performances by current novelty acts. The real Ed is on display in A Really Big Show: Ed Sullivan's 50th Anniversary (10 p.m., CBS), an hour of highlights hosted by the Smothers Brothers. Among the performers appearing in classic clips: The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Ella Fitzgerald, Sonny and Cher and the Jackson 5.

S E R I E S

Four reruns of The X-Files (8 p.m., FX) air consecutively from 8 to midnight each night this week through Friday. Suddenly Susan (8 p.m., NBC) has its one-hour season finale, featuring Vicki's wedding. The season finale of Everybody Loves Raymond (8:30 p.m., CBS) wraps up its two-part flashback to Ray and Debra's wedding. Murphy Brown (9 p.m., CBS) ends its 10-year run with an hour-long finale, featuring guest appearances by Julia Roberts, Bette Midler, Mike Wallace, George Clooney and a virtual Edward R. Murrow. On the season-ending Ally McBeal (9 p.m., Fox), Bobby Donnell (Dylan McDermott, in his role from "The Practice") returns, and the Biscuit has the hots for Renee.
