Memorial Day programming includes the National Memorial Day Concert (check local times Sun., PBS), from the Capitol's West Lawn, with Ossie Davis, Richard Dreyfuss, Christine Lahti and the National Symphony Orchestra; the new cable movie The Wall (8 p.m. Sun., Showtime), a trilogy of stories inspired by tokens left at the Vietnam War Memorial, starring Edward James Olmos, Savion Glover, Ruby Dee and Michael DeLorenzo; and America's 5-Star Heroes: Gods of War (9 p.m. EDT/10 PDT, Sun., A&E), a profile of nine American WWII generals. Titanic (9 p.m., CBS) is on TV! No, not that "Titanic." This one is a rerun of a 1996 miniseries starring George C. Scott, Peter Gallagher and Catherine Zeta Jones. Cancer Wars (check local times Mon., PBS) is a four-part look at the disease and efforts to fight it.
On ABC News Saturday Night (10 p.m. Sat., ABC), Hugh Downs takes a Memorial Day look at the battleship the USS Missouri. New York's fabled Studio 54 disco is the subject of both the E! True Hollywood Story (8 p.m. Sun., E!) and Behind the Music (9 p.m. Sun., VH1). On a rerun of King of the Hill (8:30 p.m. Sun., Fox), Hank and the guys are humiliated on the paintball field by a bratty teen rock band (voices of Green Day). The X-Files (9 p.m. Sun., Fox) reruns a mythology episode in which Mulder finds what he thinks is an alien specimen preserved in ice at the top of the world. On a repeat of Ally McBeal (9 p.m. Sun., Fox), Fish insists that Ally defend the Biscuit on a solicitation of prostitution charge. Cybill (9 p.m. Mon., CBS), which has been axed by CBS, returns to the schedule with a never-aired episode. The Bob Newhart-Judd Hirsch sitcom George & Leo (9:30 p.m. Mon., CBS) was also canceled; it's back for a few weeks, beginning with a rerun of the episode featuring actors from Newhart's and Hirsch's previous shows. This sitcom wasn't that bad; maybe it would have gotten better ratings if people knew who the heck George and Leo were. Why didn't they call it "Newhart & Hirsch"? And rounding out lame duck night, we have the return of The Naked Truth (9:30 p.m. Mon., NBC) which has also been canceled. In case you haven't figured it out yet -- sweeps is over.
