NBC Entertainment President Warren Littlefield told a TV critics' convention Sunday that the late Phil Hartman will be written out of NewsRadio by having his character, newscaster Bill McNeal, die of a heart attack in the first episode of the new season. Jon Lovitz will join the show in the second episode ... Claire Danes, Gillian Anderson and Minnie Driver will provide voices for Miramax's feature version of the Japanese anime Princess Mononoke. In the film, scheduled for release next summer, Danes has the title role, a wolf turned human who leads forest animals in an uprising against miners ... Touched by an Angel II: Buffy the Vampire Slayer co-star David Boreanaz will have his character, conflicted vampire Angel, spun off into a show of his own midway through next season. Supporting characters, including Cordelia, Spike and Drusilla, will cross over between both shows. And you can bet there'll be a few sweeps events where Buffy and Angel visit each other's turf.
