Bob Rafelson ("Five Easy Pieces") directs; Tom Stoppard wrote the screenplay. Why people don't watch TV in the summer (cont.): Debbie Allen hosts the International DanceSport Championship (10 p.m. Sat., NBC), in which teams combine interpretive dance with athleticism as they compete in events like the cha-cha, the rumba and the jive. Michael Douglas is a frustrated laid-off defense worker who explodes into violence in the 1993 drama Falling Down (9 p.m. Sun., ABC).

On a rerun of King of the Hill (8:30 p.m. Sun., Fox), Bobby becomes a model for a husky-boys' clothing store. The X-Files (9 p.m. Sun., Fox) repeats the flashback episode where Mulder first meets the Lone Gunmen. In the first of two Law & Order reruns (9 p.m. Sun., NBC), a nurse claims she's being stalked. In the second episode (10 p.m.), the cops stumble into a thorny case involving a suicide, an adoption and a family secret. The long-running cable series Silk Stalkings (9 p.m. Sun., USA) begins a new season of sleuthing with an episode featuring guest Robia La Morte (Jenny on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer") as a woman schooled in the black arts.
