The day the princess died: The two-hour tribute Diana (8 p.m., NBC) remembers the late "Queen of Hearts" with archival footage of her life and eulogies from fans famous and ordinary. The obsequious Sir Richard Attenborough ("Gandhi") produced this and also hosts, so the sniffle quotient should be astronomical. As it Happened: The Diana Effect -- Legacy of a Princess (10 p.m., History Channel) promises a more objective look at Diana's effect on the monarchy and the past year of public mourning. Time and Again (10 p.m., MSNBC) pulls out its "Diana's Greatest Hits" news footage over the next three nights. 48 Hours (10 p.m., CBS) also assesses Diana's legacy with reports from London and Angola, where she campaigned against land mines.
The squeaky clean, family broadcast network Pax TV debuts with the daily talk show Great Day, America (Noon, check local listings for channel), hosted by Phyllis George. Ani DiFranco and Soul Asylum perform on Hard Rock Live (7 p.m., VH1). On the first of two Everybody Loves Raymond reruns (9 p.m., CBS), Raymond's TV debut is a bust. In the second episode (9:30 p.m.), Ray suffers a midlife crisis. Buffy and Cordelia go to a satanic frat party on a rerun of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (9 p.m., WB). The prison series Oz (10 p.m., HBO) wraps up its second season with even more mayhem than usual.
