Weather permitting, John Glenn becomes the oldest person to travel into space as the Space Shuttle Discovery lifts off (1 p.m., CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, Fox News Channel, Discovery Channel). The new TV movie Inferno (8 p.m., UPN), starring Jonathan "Mr. UPN" LaPaglia, is a thriller about a solar flare heading for Los Angeles. The Masked Magician will be unmasked (or so they claim) on Breaking the Magician's Code 4 (9 p.m., Fox). The made-for-TV thriller Wes Craven Presents 'Don't Look Down' (9 p.m., ABC) (yes, that's the title) stars Megan Ward as a woman who develops a fear of heights after her sister falls to her death. Somebody wants her to suffer a similar fate -- but who? Charlayne Hunter-Gault examines the political and ethical implications of the global economy in Globalization and Human Rights (check local times, PBS).
