S E R I E S

Hank's irascible dad tags along when Hank attends a focus group on lawnmowers on King of the Hill (8 p.m., Fox). Billy Bob Thornton and Dwight Yoakam guest. On Buffy the Vampire Slayer (8 p.m., WB), Buffy and Angel are found out just as Giles learns that there's a new demon in town who wants a piece of Angel. French Stewart of "3rd Rock" guests as Maya's new boyfriend -- a kids' show puppeteer -- on Just Shoot Me (9 p.m., NBC). On Felicity (9 p.m., WB), our heroine tries to persuade Julie to report her date rape, but Julie resists. This episode features a guest appearance by Riley Weston, the "Felicity" writer who was recently outed as being several years longer in the tooth than the 18-year-old she claimed to be when applying for the job. And that's not her real name either. Sports Night (9:30 p.m., ABC) has an episode that takes place in real time as the crew deals with mishaps during a broadcast. Ah, the old "real-time" episode, as fresh as last week's "M*A*S*H"-style "letter to home" premise. On NYPD Blue (10 p.m., ABC), Simone continues to deteriorate while waiting for a heart transplant. This is Jimmy Smits' next-to-last episode and it's starting to look like his character's not going to be available for any future guest appearances.
