Salon’s guide to what to watch

Introducing ... Salon's new TV Daily page, your guide to what to watch tonight. Monday through Friday, our editors will scour the listings, preview the premieres and pick through the talk-show lineups to make sure you don't miss the good stuff -- and don't waste your time on the other stuff.

Each day, we'll feature one "prime pick," a show we think you might want to check out -- and mention a few other programs you might also like. And the handy talk-show guest chart below will fill you in on who's sitting down with Jon Stewart, Jay Leno, Ellen DeGeneres and the rest. Because really, life's too short to spend watching "Friends" reruns.

Prime Pick

John and YokoWhen you're as big as the Beatles -- and let's face it, only the Beatles will ever be as big as the Beatles -- the world might just remain fascinated by your personal life 40 years after the fact. "The Beatles' Women" (premieres at 9 p.m. EDT on Biography) explores "the muses behind some of rock's greatest songs," from Yoko Ono to Linda Eastman to Cynthia Lennon. But what about Michelle, Julia, Martha (My Dear) and Lovely Rita? Oh, to be a long forgotten and discarded muse in the dustbin of rock history!

For those more into the Stones than the Beatles, here comes MTV's 19th nervous breakdown: "The Real World: Sydney" premieres its 19th season at 10 p.m. EDT on MTV. And at 9 p.m. EDT, BBC America introduces "Hotel Babylon," a drama set in the "sexy world" of a luxury hotel.
