Have the live talent competitions completely taken over prime time? Pretty much, and with no end in sight for the writers' strike, expect to see more of the same for the next few months. For most of us, this is bad news, but former chorus geeks everywhere (OK, including us) are sure to relish the five-part harmonies and dorky enthusiasm of "Clash of the Choirs," a four-part competition that begins tonight (8 p.m. EST on NBC). It's not hard to imagine that there are some seriously talented choir members out there, but will celebrity choir leaders like Nick Lachey, Patti LaBelle, Kelly Rowland and Michael Bolton really be able to coach these singers into giving great performances? As much as we hope they stick to choir-friendly gospel hits or classics from Cole Porter or Stephen Sondheim, we're already cringing in anticipation of hearing a 40-person choir singing "My Humps."
"Anime: Drawing a Revolution" airs at 9 p.m. EST on Starz, and Oscar-nominated "Little Miss Sunshine" airs at 9:30 p.m. on HBO. The two final, back-to-back episodes of "Nimrod Nation" start at 9 p.m. EST on Sundance.
