Wednesday: "Top Chef" heads to Chicago. Plus: What did you think of "Beauty and the Geek" on Tuesday?

Remember back when "Top Chef" (premieres 10 p.m. EDT on Bravo) seemed like a badly repurposed "Project Runway"? Since then, the latter has become steadily less thrilling each season, while the former has just gotten better and better. Tonight we begin in Chicago with pretty Padme Lakshmi, merciless Tom Colicchio and 16 aspiring chefs. Of course we hope there are a few foaming wankers in the bunch, because nothing adds spice to "Top Chef" like a Marcel or two. And if they also look just like the Heat Miser? All the better.

Also…

It's an awful show, but tonight's "Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious" (9 p.m. EDT on the CW) makeover episode brings with it the irresistible lure of bad haircuts and crying jags. Maybe we'll find out what the hell is going on with Sophie on tonight's "In Treatment" (9:30 p.m. EDT on HBO). The 12th season of "South Park" premieres tonight (10 p.m. EDT on Comedy Central), followed by the season premiere of "Lewis Black's Root of All Evil" (10:30 p.m. EDT on Comedy Central), in which Black decides who's more evil, Oprah Winfrey or the Roman Catholic Church.
