Salon’s guide to what to watch

Prime Pick

South Park

Comedy Central

This season of "South Park" has captured the avarice and stupidity of American popular culture better than ever, and tonight's finale (10 p.m. EDT on Comedy Central) should be no exception. As long as it involves Eric Cartman, Tom Cruise, Scientology, a gaggle of angry Canadians and the return of dog (and child) whisperer Cesar Millan, we're happy.

Also…

Gene Wilder stars in 1971's charmer "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" (8 p.m. EDT on ABC Family). The premiere of "National Geographic's Strange Days on Planet Earth" (9 p.m. on PBS, check listings) highlights the problems associated with overfishing and contaminated oceans, while "Drug Years" focuses on the '80s crack epidemic (9 p.m. on Sundance). Last but not least, don't forget "Top Chef" (10 p.m. on Bravo) and Lewis Black's Root of All Evil," (10:30 p.m. on Comedy Central), in which Black and his side-demons compare the evils of Kim Jong Il to Tila Tequila.
