Series
On a new Buffy the Vampire Slayer (8 p.m., WB), Buffy has to contend with a new slayer, plus she's still mad at Riley for sleeping with Faith. Like he was supposed to know that Faith had switched bodies with her. The new mob series Falcone (9 p.m., CBS) premieres. Jason Gedrick ("EZ Streets") stars as an FBI agent who goes way undercover inside a mob family, which puts some strain on his own family life. If the plot sounds familiar, that's because the series is based on the Al Pacino-Johnny Depp movie "Donnie Brasco." The supporting mobsters include Titus Welliver ("Brooklyn South"), Lillo Brancato Jr. (last seen as a piece of Swiss cheese on "The Sopranos") and Eric Roberts. By the way, "Falcone" was actually made before "The Sopranos," but held a year past its original premiere date, due to the networks' short-lived nervousness about TV violence in the wake of the Columbine massacre. In a strenuous effort to generate buzz, CBS is running "Falcone" episodes for eight nights in a row, "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" style. On Angel (9 p.m., WB), our boy gets more than he bargained for when he tries to protect an actress from stalkers. The CSC staff awaits word about the fate of the financially troubled network on Sports Night (9:30 p.m., ABC). Frontline (check local times, PBS) presents "Dr. Solomon's Dilemma," a disturbing look at doctors trying to cope with managed care.
