The Glover's off

A famously odd 1987 visit to David Letterman by Crispin Glover. Video

Scott Lamb's charming podcast with Crispin Glover today reminded us of this 1987 "Late Night with David Letterman" appearance. Glover clearly comes prepared, which is always appreciated by the host. He lugs a case and other props onstage while wearing a funky gettup that includes platform shoes and what appears to be a wig. Glover's got talkshow game he's more than just another actor hawking a film. On paper, Letterman seems like he has all his bullet points in a row: 1) How's your summer going? 2) Where do you live, L.A.?... But here, things have already gone a bit off track 3) In a big, high building overlooking Hollywood Boulevard? Dave knows his ship has gone astray. In one of the most memorable guest appearances in late night talkshow history, Letterman could have used his wrestling shoes for what they were designed for.
