Song of the Day: "Dear Confessor," Immaculate Machine

Catchy, sun-splashed rock with an unsurprising familial connection.
"Dear Confessor"

Immaculate MachineThis effervescent smile machine of a track is a close musical cousin to last week's New Pornographers tune. Actually, maybe it's more of a niece, as New Pornographers mastermind A.C. Newman is the uncle of Immaculate Machine singer Kathryn Calder. Familial relations aside, "Dear Confessor" is perfect summer rock, the driving guitars and soaring melody as seasonally apt as ice cream trucks and flip-flops. You can find the song, and others like it, on the band's second full-length album, "Fables."
