Running with Greil Marcus' comment that Marxist theorist Theodore Adorno's vicious anti-mass culture rants were akin in spirit to punk rock, Brian Joseph Davis has recorded a five-track limited-edition EP of choice quotes from Adorno's "Minima Moralia" performed as agitprop punk. The best is "Every work of art is an uncommitted crime." (Salon exclusive free download) Singer Dawn Unwanted repeats the line over and over again, turning it into a mantra of anger and despair. The wail of pain and anguish that runs through the entire song expresses exactly how I feel about Adorno's writings. This is a priceless concept, executed with flair.
