Charlie breaks the news of his illness to his family on Party of Five (9 p.m., Fox). Emma Thompson guest stars as herself on a sly episode of Ellen (9:30 p.m., ABC) that pokes fun at the Hollywood closet. Sean Penn also has a cameo.
