S E R I E S The legend of Anastasia is explored on Biography (8 p.m. EST/9 PST, A&E). Even more of a turkey than usual: It's Thanksgiving, and Susan brings holiday cheer by posing as the girlfriend of a nursing home resident (guest Tim Conway) on Suddenly Susan (8 p.m., NBC). Buffy and slayer Kendra join forces to rescue Angel from Spike's evil grip on the conclusion of a two-part Buffy the Vampire Slayer (9 p.m., WB). On The Naked Truth (9:30 p.m., NBC), Bradley (played by the great Chris Elliott) is found to be distantly related to Hitler. A cop suspected of murdering his estranged wife reaches out to Donovan on Brooklyn South (10 p.m., CBS). S P O R T S Monday Night Football: Raiders at Broncos (9 p.m., ABC).
S P E C I A L S Last-gasp sweeps programming from Fox: Breaking the Magician's Code (9 p.m., Fox) finds the truth behind the tricks thanks to hidden cameras and a masked magician snitch. Mitch Pileggi (Skinner on "The X Files") hosts. T A L K Rosie O'Donnell (syndicated) welcomes Tim Allen and Kirstie Alley; Natalie Portman and John Cusack guest on David Letterman (CBS); Jay Leno (NBC) hosts Martha Stewart and singer Enrique Iglesias; Tom Snyder (CBS) talks with Reba McEntire; Hector Elizondo, Kathy Griffin and Cornel West are panelists on Politically Incorrect (ABC); a rerun of Conan O'Brien (NBC) features Lisa Kudrow and Silverchair. E T C. Buffy the Vampire Slayer is moving to Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on Jan. 20.
The cult hit will anchor WB's newest night of programming, which will also
feature Dawson's Creek (9 p.m.), a "My So-Called Life"-ish drama
from Kevin Williamson, creator of "Scream" and "I Know What You Did Last
Summer" ... In other future programming news, Robert Altman and
"Doonesbury" creator Garry Trudeau, who teamed up a decade ago on the
groundbreaking HBO political satire/soap Tanner '88, are working on
a prime-time computer industry soap for ABC that will be titled either
"Silicon Valley" or "Killer App" ... OK, so last week's backwards episode
of Seinfeld gets an A+ for creativity. But it sure was flat. Is it
me, or did anybody else get the feeling that the producers hit on the
concept to salvage a not-funny episode? And while we're on the subject of
sweeps stunts, there wasn't anything as (intentionally) funny this sweeps
as 3rd Rock's spoof last week of Michael Flatley's "Lord of the
Dance." "King of the Jig," indeed ...
