S P E C I A L S

The Grinch: Special Edition (8 p.m., TNT) combines the annual airing of the Dr. Seuss Christmas classic with a look at the making of the show. Phil Hartman hosts. The modestly titled The Greatest Christmas Moments of All Time (9 p.m., Fox) dusts off clips from holiday themed TV shows and movies. Gosh, I hope they don't forget the "Three's Company" Christmas episode from 1978!


S E R I E S

Truman Capote is profiled on a new Biography (8 p.m. EST/9 PST, A&E). Sally and Harry get Christmas jobs at the mall on a rerun of 3rd Rock from the Sun (8 p.m., NBC); on a new 3rd Rock (9 p.m., NBC), Dick takes home a prisoner from Officer Don's jail and tries to rehabilitate him. Oswald is jealous when Kate plans a trip to the Bahamas with Drew on The Drew Carey Show (9 p.m., ABC). Ellen and Laurie's relationship hits a bump on their one-month anniversary on Ellen (9:30 p.m., ABC). Law & Order (10 p.m., NBC) has an episode about a deadly difference of opinion over female circumcision between an American husband and an Egyptian wife. PrimeTime Live (10 p.m., ABC) has a report on mail-order food gifts that show up in bad condition. Now they tell me! On the South Park (10 p.m., Comedy Central) Christmas episode, Jewish kid Kyle is shunned by his Christian friends.
